I noticed it’s been a while since I posted about my favorite coffee shops, whether in Paris or in other cities I’ve visited. So I decided to bring it back for this short and quick article, but of course, coffeeshops are ALWAYS a good idea (if you know me well!). For the past three years or so, I have been traveling between Paris and Rome quite frequently and can say by now that I know Rome very well, given the amount of time I have spent there. The coffee capital and good food, Italia, where you can indulge in all the goodies this country has to offer, while discovering its history and culture. I got to visit many cities and small towns in Italy, but I spent most of the time in Rome. In this article, I will share my personal favorite coffee shops in Rome, where I am a frequent visitor.

1. Le Levain

I came across this one, I think, two years ago, and fell in love. If you are in Italy, of course, you will find the famous Cornetto, which is not a croissant, and I always miss having a croissant when in Rome. I spent a while searching for a French-inspired coffeeshop and stumbled upon Le Levain, which means “yeast or sourdough starter” in French. They have one of the best coffees to order in Rome, along with a huge range of pastries, especially French pastries and cakes such as éclairs, viennoiseries, tartes au citron, as well as many Italian delights. It is truly one of the coffee shops in Rome that offers high-quality products, a lovely indoor setting, and wonderful, helpful staff.

2. Forno Conti & Co.

If you are looking for pastries but also a place to have a tasty breakfast or brunch, Forno Conti & Co is the place to be. They have tasty croissants and other pastries with a twist that are delicious. I often go for breakfast; the indoor space is nice, and the staff is helpful. If you are someone like me who has eggs for breakfast, this is the place for you. Whenever I go for breakfast, I end up leaving with so many goodies.

3. Barnum

If you are walking around the Piazza Navona downtown, in a few minutes, within the alleys of central Rome, you will find one of the coolest spots for breakfast, pastries, and brunch. It is called Barnum, with a unique interior, but it is best to come early, as you will definitely queue for a table, as there is no pre-reservation. I waited for 20 minutes or so, but the queue was as long as when I arrived; we had four people ahead, but the queue behind me was getting longer, but definitely worth the queue! The coffee, the food, and the pastries are amazing. They have the BEST omelet I have had in Rome. If you are ever in Rome, you should definitely visit it and include it in your itinerary.

4. Love Roma

I only went twice, but honestly, it is one of the best spots for coffee and pastries in Rome. They have the best variety of pastries with fillings to die for. It is one of the most recommended places to visit for pastries in Rome. They recently opened a second branch called Slow Roma, which I haven’t tried yet, but it is on my list to check.

5. Frisson

This spot is spotless and quite unique. The interior is very spacious and so artistic. I hate driving in Rome, but this one made me drive so I could visit it. They have tasty coffee, and I had one of the best croissants, filled with vanilla cream that was clearly made with fresh vanilla. I LOVED IT! If you are okay with pastries and coffee for breakfast, you will love this spot. I believe they have Sunday brunch and daily dinners, but you need to make a reservation in advance.
